GMA Network, Viva Music Group GMV Studios

Philippine media powerhouses GMA Network and Viva are teaming up for an exciting new music project.

GMA Network and Viva, specifically Viva Music Group, have joined forces once again for a collaboration to form GMV Studios. This joint venture corporation between the country's two media titans aims to further strengthen the booming Original Pilipino Music (OPM) industry, level up music production and music publishing, and spotlight rising, talented Filipino artists both locally and internationally.

The GMV Studios signing ceremony took place on June 5 at the Viva Entertainment headquarters. In attendance were key executives from both networks, including GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo, Sparkle GMA Artist Center Assistant Vice President Tracy Garcia, Viva Group of Companies Chairman of the Board and CEO Vic del Rosario Jr., Vicor Music President and COO Antonio M. Ocampo, and Viva Records Corporation President Verb del Rosario.

According to a Chika Minute report on 24 Oras, GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes shared that amid the rising demand in the music industry, GMV Studios is driven to showcase Filipino musical excellence, and provide a platform for local artists to shine both at home and on the global stage.

“Napapansin natin na worldwide, lumalakas ang music industry. It's really a phenomenon. We also want our own artists to be recognized, sana nga hindi lang dito [sa bansa], pati sa abroad. I think this is just the first step,” she said.

Meanwhile, Viva Group of Companies Chairman and CEO Vic del Rosario Jr. opened up about the extensive preparations behind the collaboration with GMA Network. He admitted that while the initial stages were challenging, it ultimately paved the way for an exciting project expected to cultivate a fresh wave of talent.

“Matagal naming pinag-usapan ng GMA, with Annette. It took a while, medyo mahirap noong una, pero now na nabuo na, we're excited with the GMV Studios. Hopefully, we can build up a lot of GMA talents with this company,” he shared.

The roster of artists unveiled under GMV Studios includes Ysabel Ortega, Princess Aliyah, Jeff Moses, Vianna Ricafranca, Anthony Rosaldo, and the P-pop girl group Dollipop.

Kapuso singer Anthony Rosaldo expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the perfect synergy between GMA's star-making power and Viva's musical expertise

“Kilala natin how Sparkle and GMA make stars, pero iba rin ang Viva. Alam ko expertise nila ang pagpapasikat ng mga kanta. I could imagine my songs being played sa mga movies,” Anthony said.

For Sparkle star Jeff Moses, the new venture marks a monumental milestone that allows him to officially pursue his long-standing passion for music.

“I'm very happy, of course, grabe. 'Di ko in-expect. I think this is a big step sobra na makapag-record and ma-pursue ko 'yung passion ko in singing,” said Jeff.

Ysabel Ortega credited her regular stint on GMA's musical variety show All-Out Sundays for reigniting her musical fire after focusing primarily on acting for several years.

“Given na naging tahanan ko 'yung All-Out Sundays for a few years, I think sila rin 'yung nagbalik ng gano'ng klaseng fire sa akin na gusto ko talagang maging singer kasi for a time puro seryes lang ako, puro acting; pero noong naging part ako ng All-Out Sundays, naging passion ko na talaga siya,” Ysabel shared.

This collaboration follows a series of successful joint ventures between the two companies.

The partnership between GMA Network and Viva Communications, specifically through GMA Pictures and Viva Films, has already yielded several notable projects in the past years.

Among these is the nostalgic sci-fi romance film Video City: Be Kind, Please Rewind, starring Ruru Madrid and Yassi Pressman.

Another key collaboration is the 2024 suspense-thriller Playtime, which featured a powerhouse cast including Xian Lim, Sanya Lopez, and Coleen Garcia.
