
Filipinos once again turned to GMA News during the country's biggest news event, with its comprehensive multi-platform coverage of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 27 outperforming all competing television networks.

Based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement overnight data for July 27, 2026, "SONA 2026: A GMA News Special Coverage," aired on GMA and simulcast on GTV, recorded a combined 5.6 percent people rating, equivalent to a projected 2.45 million viewers, in National Urban Philippines. GMA alone registered a 4.7 percent people rating, equivalent to a projected 2.1 million viewers, while the GTV simulcast posted a 0.9 percent people rating, equivalent to a projected 381 thousand viewers.
GMA's special coverage significantly outperformed Frontline Express ("FIFTH SONA: State of the Nation Address") on TV5/RPTV/One PH, which logged a combined 1.2 percent people rating, and "State of the Nation Address 2026: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage" on ALLTV/A2Z/Kapamilya Channel, which posted a 0.7 percent people rating.
The Network likewise dominated online, with the GMA News YouTube livestream of the SONA 2026 special coverage recording 1,190,471 views as of July 29, 8:30 a.m. This was ahead of ANC's livestream, which posted 1,184,565 views, and the ABS-CBN News livestream, which registered 762,601 views.
"State of the Nation Address 2026" aired live on GMA and GTV and was simultaneously livestreamed on the GMA News YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The day-long coverage began at dawn with Unang Balita on Unang Hirit, laying the groundwork for the President's national address. The Network's flagship newscast 24 Oras delivered the highlights of the President's speech, alongside its series of special reports examining the challenges of the Marcos Jr. administration. Throughout the day, viewers relied on GTV's Dobol B TV, Balitanghali, and State of the Nation, as well as the late night newscast Saksi.
Online, GMA News provided real-time updates through GMA News Online, www.gmanetwork.com/news, and its official Facebook, X, YouTube, and TikTok accounts.
Across the regions, GMA Regional TV kept audiences updated through its flagship local newscasts GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon, Balitang Bisdak, Ratsada Balita, and One Mindanao. The Network's regional coverage was likewise available through the GMA RTV Facebook page and YouTube channel.
On radio, Super Radyo DZBB 594 aired its “Super Radyo DZBB Special Coverage: SONA 2026,” with portions simulcast on Dobol B TV on GTV.
