A week after revealing that he has been tested positive for coronavirus, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have now been released from a hospital in Queensland, Australia.

The great news was confirmed by a representative of the Oscar-winning actor on CNN.

According to the report, Tom and Rita are now continuing their recovery at home in Australia, where they are currently based due to shooting a film about singer and King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley.

Yesterday, the actor thanked the nurses and doctors who attended to them while on quarantine.

“Thanks to the Helpers. Let's take care of ourselves and each other. Hanx,” he wrote on Instagram.

Road to recovery

It was on Friday morning, Australia time, when the couple announced the news on Instagram.

“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches.

"Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.

"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.” Tom said in his first Instagram post about the diagnosis.

A day after, the couple shared a selfie to update their fans on their well-being and stating that they are “taking it one-day-at-a-time.”

He wrote, “I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have COVID-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else.

“There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”

As a singer and songwriter, Rita Wilson even made a playlist for others who are self-isolating or in quarantine.

Tom and his wife Rita are among the international celebrities and personalities who have tested positive for the virus.

In recent reports, actors Idris Elba, Kristofer Hivju, and Filipino senator Miguel Zubiri have also confirmed that they have the coronavirus.
