By Bianca Geli

Ani ni Liza, “I believe there was one rumor that circulated with our home addresses in both cities.

"I think when that happened, that became very dangerous. As people were receiving not just nasty questions or comments but threats.

"I think that's when we made the decision to just say, 'That's enough. Let's de-stigmatize this.'"

I'm not really sure, I think the Department of Health is working on that.”

Dagdag ni Liza, naging mahirap na nasa malayo sila ng kaniyang dalawang kapatid sa panahong ito, “It makes us feel helpless to be so far. We are struggling, we are trying to figure out how to best care right now for my dad.

"But with respect to my mother, it is very painful to even think about her last few days.

“Absolutely, we would want to be there but the decision was taken out of our hands by the disease. The second thing is, there was a lockdown.

“My mom was a force of nature, she was fiercely loyal, fiercely protective of her family. She had the most sympathetic heart. She was my best friend.”

Aniya, “Fear really makes people do things they probably normally wouldn't do. And I understand that in the absence of information, people will fill the gaps with misinformation.

"Instead of crucifying someone because they may be exposed to the virus, wouldn't it be better to just show some sympathy.

"We just hope this message inspired people to choose a different road--one of empathy, sympathy, care, and compassion.”
