In a 10-minute Instagram video, Kim said, “Hi, everyone. I am coming to you from my home in Hawaii where I've been since Sunday.”

“I wanted to let you know that yesterday, I tested positive for COVID-19.”

Daniel shared that he recently traveled to New York to shoot for a role in a TV series, where he plays the role of a doctor. He also mentioned that he was asymptomatic for a period of time.

“It is important for you guys to know that I was asymptomatic during all of this time.”

During his flight back home to Hawaii, he said he started feeling some scratchiness in his throat.

“It was unlike how I usually get sick,” he said.

He continued, “So when I landed, I called my family doctor in Hawaii and he told me to monitor my symptoms to be safe.

"When I got home, I quarantined myself in a room in the house and tried to rest on my own.

"But later that night, I started feeling tightness in my chest, body aches, and my temperature started to rise.”

“He [family doctor] then told me to get tested. So the next day, I went to a drive-through testing facility that had just opened here in Honolulu.”

“They told me I would have my result back in three days, and that was Wednesday morning. In the meantime, my doctor prescribed some medication and I went straight home.”

Kim also emphasized how he never went to a hospital.

“I never went to a hospital but with the help of the medication, bed rest, liquids, and of course my loving family, I didn't need to.”

“Today, even though I am not a hundred percent [well], I'm pretty close.”

He reiterated, “I was not asymptomatic.”

"A lot of younger people can carry without the virus without having any symptoms. That was me.

"I was sick, I still am. But thankfully for me it wasn't a matter of life and death.”

“For all those out there, especially teenagers and millennials who think this is not serious, please know that it is. And if you treat this without care, you can be potentially endangering the lives of millions of people including your loved ones.”

“So for the sake of everyone else, please follow the guidelines. Socially distance, self-isolate, stop touching your face and of course--wash your hands.”

Kim's Instagram caption read, “Looks like I'll be ok, but I wanted share my journey with you in the hopes that you find it informative or helpful. Hope you all stay safe, calm, and above all, healthy.”

He also added that his family had been tested and they were all negative to COVID-19.

Kim is known for appearing in American TV series Hawaii 5-0 and Lost.
