Sen. Sonny Angara survives COVID-19: 'I'm truly grateful for the gift of life'

Senator Sonny Angara announced on Monday, April 6, that he is now negative for 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) following series of treatments in the hospital.

“After several days in the ER and the COVID-19 wing, my doctors finally sent me home today. Negative for the virus and pneumonia free,” he said on Instagram.

He also sent appreciation to the doctors and nurses who took care of him while on treatment.

“Big big thanks to my doctors and nurses for taking care of me and to my family, loved ones, friends for all the prayers, letters and food that you sent,” he said.

Now that he defeated the deadly COVID-19, the senator also spoke of importance of life, especially in this challenging times.

“Am truly grateful for the gift of life and even more so now for those at the front lines who safeguard our lives and protect our society,” he related.

Senator Sonny then became sentimental over the frontliners sacrifice for the country and their respective families.

“I met nurses and doctors who don't go home anymore, some even doing double duty in other hospitals.

“They truly truly are REAL HEROES. I will be at home with my son when he celebrates his bday this weekend but many of our health workers will not make it home as a measure of protection for their families.

“Hope everyone is safe at home,” he said.


Sen. Sonny announced on March 26 that he tested positive for COVID-19, after exposure to an infected resource person at a Senate hearing.
