Exactly a month ago, actress Iza Calzado was diagnosed with coronavirus after experiencing symptoms like pneumonia and having trouble breathing.

Besides the virus, she also had contracted a bacterial infection called “Acinetobacter baumannii” that attacked her lungs too, compromising her respiratory system.

Following her discharge on March 30, Iza looked back at the time she was struggling and even shared her learnings throughout the grueling experience.

She wrote on Instagram, “The Lord has powerful ways, indeed.

“I am grateful for my life today and always. Even more grateful for his instruments of life --- our positive spirit and resilience, especially in our frontliners.

“This was me exactly a month ago. Every breath is a blessing,” accompanied by a photo of herself with a respirator.

In the comments section, celebrities from both networks showered Iza with the praying emoji showing how blessed they are for Iza to overcome a great hurdle in her life.

Celebrity comments on Iza Calzado's post.

On April 7, Iza Calzado revealed to 24 Oras reporter Nelson Canlas that she experienced survivor's guilt after recovering from the disease.

She said, “Umiiyak talaga ako. It hits you, e. Na parang, how come I survived and they did not? Some people are losing loved ones in three days. 'Di ba, 'yung parang one minute they're there, the next they're not. I know what that's like.

“I kind of wish that I was able to give some of my energy to others. Perhaps, we could've survived this together.”

Iza has then considered her survival a miracle and shared that she wants to help others heal from the disease.

She also revealed that she will donate her blood to the Philippine General Hospital which will attempt to treat severe cases with convalescent plasma transfusion.

As of press time, the Philippines has more than 7,000 cases of COVID-19 patients with more than 900 recoveries.
