Antonio Banderas reveals he has coronavirus on his 60th birthday

The Mask of Zorro actor Antonio Banderas has confirmed on Instagram that he is suffering from coronavirus.

In a message posted on August 10, his 60th birthday, the actor said he is celebrating in quarantine and that he is feeling "relatively well."

He wrote, "I want to make public today, August 10, that I am forced to celebrate my 60th birthday following quarantine protocols after having tested positive for COVID-19.

"I would like to add that I feel relatively well, just a little more tired than usual.

"I am confident that I will recover as soon as possible following the medical treatment and hope that it will allow me to overcome this infection that is affecting everyone around the planet."

The actor added, "I will take advantage of this isolation to read, write, and rest, and continue making plans to begin and to give meaning to my 60th year, to which I welcome with full enthusiasm.

"A big hug to everyone."

It is not known where Antonio is currently based or how he contracted the virus.

Following his confirmation, he joins the likes of other Hollywood stars who tested positive for the COVID-19 including Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, and Mel Gibson.
