Kapuso star Heart Evangelista never ceases to amaze with her many talents and her business ventures. Aside from being an actress, TV host, singer, fashion icon, author, and brand endorser, she is also a sold-out artist whose paintings are just as stunning as her natural beauty.
In Manulife Philipines' recent webinar titled “From Passion to Action,” Heart discussed with her friend and webinar host Karen Davila how she started developing her skills in different forms of art such as painting and singing.
“I remember painting on our walls, 'cause we had white walls, and my mom got so mad at me. But my dad said, “Don't. Don't scare her. Don't traumatize her. Just let her be,' because that's how she is,” shared Heart.
She continued, “I really was never the type to excel in certain things, but on the creative side, I always knew what to do and I felt good about it. So, I remember growing up and just fully expressing myself, attending workshops, going with my dad to meet different artists, and just being exposed to that.”
“I also grew up with my parents, you know, in our restaurant business, and we had singing cooks and waiters in the States. And I remember singing, and you know, kind of making my first career move when I was very, very young,” she added.

However, the I Left My Heart in Sorsogon star said it was not until late into her showbiz career that she pursued her passion for painting.
“Quite late actually, Karen, because that was when I kind of had a shift with my career. I honestly (think) in the world of showbiz where, you know, your beauty is fleeting, I kind of felt like I was really lost in the game.”
“And I kind of was in a reset mode, where I didn't know what to do. So, I started from the very beginning, which was kind of to be myself and not play a certain character that they liked me in or wanted me to be. And that's when I started to paint,” she said.
According to her, in the beginning it was only a hobby for her, but a friend convinced her to turn it into an income-generating venture.
“It was actually at first very therapeutic for me. And then I remember I was so afraid to show my paintings because it was so personal, and you know, there's a stigma when being an artista that you're just that. So, I kind of changed my name--used my real name--which was Love Marie, and when people started to ask, friends started to ask about it that's when an artist friend of mine, his name is Ivan Roxas, said, 'You should try to do an exhibit without introducing you as Heart; (but) you as who you really are,'” Heart explained.
“And I was surprised that when I had my first exhibit it sold out and I was very, very surprised that it would be that way, and you had other art dealers and other artists coming and taking photos. It was a different feeling that they did not just buy my paintings, but appreciated me for who I really am…actually appreciated me for who I am, actually saw my heart and my soul,” she said.
“That's when it started but I started to earn more when I started to paint on luxury bags. It was a niche group that wanted it and liked it so much, and that's when it all started to happen.”
Fast-forward to a few years later and Heart has already had a number of sold-out art exhibits, did many collaborations, including one with Incubus vocalist Brandon Boyd, and she is also about to launch her first NFT collection soon.
Truly, her love for painting has been a lucrative venture for Heart, but she's not stopping there.
During the webinar, the Kapuso star also revealed that she's about to launch her own beauty brand soon.
“Lately I've been actually working for almost a year, just very hectic with a beauty company that I am actually going to launch. So, it's one of my biggest ventures that I've ever gotten involved in and it will be with my sister. So, that's what's been keeping me busy.”
Heart said that her new venture will be a beauty brand that will empower and inspire women to tap into their inner “boss bae.”
