In the second part of Heart Evangelista and husband Chiz Escudero's interview with Karen Davila, the power couple shared the beautiful story of how Chiz and Heart's parents reconciled.

For those who may have been too young to remember, during the early days of Heart and Chiz's relationship, the Kapuso star's parents were against their relationship.

But fortunately, as the old saying goes, “Time heals all wounds.” So, Chiz and Heart's parents, Reynaldo and Cecilia Ongpauco, eventually made up and now have a good relationship.

In fact, Heart's father, Reynaldo, who is now separated from her mother, now lives in Sorsogon where Chiz is currently serving as governor.

Still according to Heart, she always knew that Chiz and her father would get along well because they have similarities.

“Mahilig kami sa mga lumang bagay, mahilig kami sa kahoy, we have so many things in common,” Chiz shared.

The Sorsogon governor also narrated how he encouraged Heart to reconcile with her parents.

“I told her, 'It's okay for you to make peace with your parents whatever it is they think about me, dahil magulang mo 'yan, at 'pag may nangyari sa kanila at hindi kayo nagbati, you will be regretful the rest of your life and it will affect me too.'

“So, 'wag naman. Magbati na kayo.' So, nagbati na sila. Kami hindi pa.”

Then he detailed what went down during the day he and Heart's family made up.

“One time, one day, they went to the house. Alis muna ako…kasi nandun sila eh.

“And then she calls me up and says, 'Halika, punta ka rito.' Sabi ko, 'Wala na sila?' 'Hindi, andito pa. Okay na.'

“Sabi ko, 'On one condition… walang sorry, hindi pag-uusapan 'yon, parang wala lang nangyari, like the first time we met and then we met again. And that's where it began.”

Heart then said that Chiz and her father are so close now that her dad often gets emotional about not patching things up with Chiz sooner.

“But my dad sometimes he gets teary-eyed with Chiz in Sorsogon. [He says] 'Sana dati pa tayo naging okay. Sana I had more time to be with you.' He's so cute.”

Chiz confirmed this by saying, “He's a nice guy and he's getting emotional of life because of like some of his relatives are also getting older, he himself is getting older, feeling some stuff in his body. So, people tend to be more emotional.

This is when Heart got teary-eyed and said how much she loves her father, Reynaldo.
