Khalil Ramos shares how he conquered his fear of the ocean from his first diving experience

By Felix Ilaya

GMANetwork.com caught up with Khalil Ramos at his official contract signing with GMA Artist Center last October 13 for an exclusive Kapuso Showbiz News interview.

One of the topics we talked about with Khalil was his recent weekend getaway to Batangas where they celebrated the birthday of Gabbi Garcia's mom and went on his first ever scuba-dive.

According to Khalil, he actually had a fear of the ocean and open water growing up which is why he had to work up the courage before finally going for his introductory dive.

"Sobrang mixed feelings ako kasi takot ako sa dagat 'e, I've always been scared of the open water because of the movies that I watched before at saka 'yung mga alam mo na, siyempre 'yung family mo tinatakot ka.

"So sinimulan ko siya back in siguro mga two, three years ago na swimming muna sa open water, trying to conquer that fear.

"It took awhile, it took I think a year or two for me to be able to dive which was just a couple of weeks ago.

"Gusto niya sana ng kasabay pero ako I was always scared so finally nagawa ko siya," he revealed.

Describing his experience diving underwater, Khalil felt a sense of bliss and wonder being that close to marine life and the ocean floor for the first time.

"It was blissful, that was the best adjective I could think of. A lot of people say the other side of fear is bliss.

"True enough, siyempre you would have to know the proper techniques, the safety. Kailangan pagpahalagahan mo 'yung safety mo once you're under water pero at least I was able to go and conquer the fear and conquer the shock.

Sobrang relaxing.

"I'm very observant by nature, I love observing people, I love observing the environment, so this is like a whole new world to me. For the first time I'm observing marine life and I'm seeing how these fishes live.

"Very fascinating, definitely I'll be doing it more, soon. After 'nun naisip ko nga okay sige game, I wanna take a course for the open water license. Hopefully, soon," Khalil said.

Now that Khalil and Gabbi are in the same network, we're definitely excited to see more adventures, projects, and stories they come up with in the future!
