Ikinuwento ni Richard Yap ang ilang tips na dapat sundin para sa mga kapwa niyang motorcycle riders para maging ligtas ang mga ito sa daan.

Ibinahagi ng bagong Kapuso actor ang ilang helpful tips na ito sa kanyang guesting sa Sarap, 'Di Ba? Bahay Edition nitong January 23.

Ayon sa aktor, ang mga ito ay dapat sundin para masigurong ligtas ang pagbiyahe ng isang motorcycle rider.

Enroll in a motorcycle riding course

Ayon kay Richard, importanteng mag-enroll sa isang motorcycle riding course para alam ang mga dapat at hindi dapat gawin ng isang rider.

“Karamihan ng mga tao sa atin, 'yung mga riders, they go from riding a bicycle directly to riding a motorcycle. Iba ang bisikleta, iba rin ang motor. Kasi ang motor may makina, so you have to take into account the power of the motorcycle.”

Dugtong pa ni Richard, ituturo rito ang mga paraan para manatiling ligtas sa kahit ano mang sitwasyon.

“They will teach you the basics of riding a motorcycle, how to break, how to break in case of an emergency, what to do if you're driving slow or driving on wet roads. And all the other laws that you should know when riding a motorcycle.”

Inamin ni Richard na noong muli siyang sumabak sa pagmo-motor, nag-aral siya muli nito.

“When I started riding a motorcycle again, I went through a motorcycle riding course just to refresh my memory to make sure na tama 'yung ginagawa ko when riding a motorcycle.”

Safety riding gear

Ipinaalala ni Richard ang kahalagahan ng safety riding gear kapag gumagamit ng motor.

“I would suggest a full face helmet for everyone… The full face helmet helps protect our head, our face, so it's complete protection for our head so very important ang full face helmet.”

Importante rin para kay Richard ang protective gears tulad ng jacket at protective pants.

“Riding jackets have pads for your elbows, your shoulders, your chest, and your back. This helps in case mahulog ka or sumemplang 'yung motor mo.”

Dugtong pa nito maaari ring bumili ng pads para sa mga ayaw ng protective jacket o pants.

“'Yung iba they just buy the pads which is also something that you can do. Protective pants... or you can put the knee pads outside of what you're wearing… Those were the areas na tinatamaan when you're riding a motorcycle.”

Napansin rin ni Richard na marami umanong hindi gumagamit ng tamang sapatos sa pagmo-motor. Para sa aktor, dapat itong pahalagahan para makaiwas sa aksidente.

“Don't forget motorcycle riding shoes or you should be wearing boots kasi 'yung iba nakikita ko naka tsinelas. Pag sumemplang kayo, nakatsinelas kayo, tocino lahat ng skin ninyo. We don't want that to happen. We want everyone to be safe while riding.”

Do not do splitting of lanes at high speed

Isa pa sa mga binigyan diin ni Richard sa kanyang tips ay ang kahalagahan ng tamang pagmamaneho ng mga motor.

“Puwede naman mag-split lane tayo especially during traffic, but I've seen motorcycles splitting lanes even when cars are running fast. Splitting lanes should only be done when the cars are running at a slow pace… Hindi lang buhay ng iba, pati buhay mo mapepeligro if you don't follow the safety riding tips.”

Maintain your motorcycle

Sa paggamit ng motor, dapat umanong laging i-check ang estado nito bago ito ilabas sa daan.

“Karamihan nakikita ko, wala silang ilaw. Usually bulb lang 'yan e. Papalitan mo lang 'yung bulb. That bulb that will cost you a few pesos will be able to save your life especially sa gabi… Minsan 'yung mga tao hindi nila nakikita nila may motor na pala sa harap nila, mabubulaga na lang because wala silang ilaw sa likod.”

Payo ni Richard, kahit na may araw pa mas mabuti pa ring nakabukas ang ilaw ng motor para madali itong mapansin ng ibang sasakyan sa daan.

“It's still safer, even during the day, to keep your lights on para kitang kita kayo from the cars ahead of you or behind you.”

“Maintain your motorcycle, make sure the lights are working, your brakes are working which is very important.”

Invest in accident insurance

Ang panghuling payo ni Richard ay ang pagkuha ng insurance.

“Minsan hindi natin naiisip 'to. We should invest in accident insurance also, not only for the bike, but also for us. Kasi 'pag naaksidente tayo, sinong magbabayad ng hospitalization natin? Insurance talaga is there when we need it.
