Divine Lee and Blake Go

Entrepreneur couple and COVID-19 survivors Divine Lee and Blake Go remind people to take extra precaution because anyone can be infected by the virus.

As COVID-19 survivors, host and vlogger Divine Lee and her entrepreneur husband Blake Go are doing their best to educate the public about the highly infectious virus.

According to their vlog, the Cebu-based couple believed they got COVID-19 through touching surfaces or objects as they had no person-to-person contact for months when they tested positive for the virus.

This is probably the cause as Sars-CoV-2 virus or COVID-19 survives longer on cardboard -- up to 24 hours-- and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel surfaces, according to the USA's Institutes of Health.

So even if we don't go out, the chance of acquiring the virus is possible as objects like grocery items and deliveries are sent in our households.

To shed light, Divine and Blake share in a new YouTube vlog their post-COVID-19 precautions prescribed by their doctors to avoid repetitive virus transmission.

Invest in UV disinfection equipment

UV disinfection equipment, like germicidal light lamps, are used in a variety of applications where disinfection is the primary concern, including air and water purification, food and beverage protection, and sterilization of sensitive tools such as medical instruments.

Based on a study by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, it "destroys the ability of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens to multiply by deactivating their reproductive capabilities. The average bacteria may be killed in 10 seconds at a distance of 6 inches from the lamp."

While its effectiveness is proven, Divine reminds the public on how to properly use UV disinfection equipment as it emits radiation which damages human cells.

"Make sure na when you guys use your UV, wala kayo doon, and you don't look at the light kasi damaging s'ya sa eyes n'yo. We do that sa gabi, wala ng tao, turn it on kasi may remote naman s'ya. And then pagkatapos hindi rin kayo papasok for at least an hour. Basta kami gabi, so talagang walang papasok do'n and then, in the morning, we air it out," she shares.

Another COVID-19 survivor, Michael V., attests to the benefits of UV light because he uses this to sterilize package deliveries. The Kapuso comedian speculated that he acquired COVID-19 from touching them.

"Una sina-sanitize, ini-sterilize ng UV light, hindi lang 'yung packaging, pati 'yung laman at bawat binubuksan ko, lalo 'pag bago. Nagsusuot na ko ng mask saka naglilinis ako ng kamay before and after ko hawakan," Bitoy shares in a vlog, citing ways on how to disinfect delivered items.

Additionally, Divine and Blake share that hospital-grade disinfectant sprays can be used as well to temporarily reduce airborne viruses and bacteria.

Boost immunity

The key in preventing oneself from any disease is by working on it from the inside.

In the same vlog, Divine breaks down the vitamins and supplements that she and Blake are taking during and after their COVID-19 diagnosis.

Vitamin C
Divine and Blake take Vitamin C twice a day as it's still the best and safest nutrient against immune system deficiencies.

Zinc
Zinc treats common cold and other airway infections and is needed for the proper growth and maintenance of the human body.

Fish Oil
The couple take fish oil supplement once a day to inhibit blood clot formation.

Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus that are important for building and keeping strong bones.

Probiotics
Probiotics is widely known for promoting healthy balance of gut bacteria but it has been linked to a wide range of health benefits like immune function, diarrhea treatment, and cardiovascular health improvement.

Melatonin
Melatonin is mostly used to treat insomnia, but it's actually just a side effect of it. In fact, it's anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and has free radical scavenging properties.

Divine and Blake take melatonin to prevent cytokine storms which cause death among COVID-19 patients.

"When you have COVID-19, your body produces antibodies so 'yun 'yung mga soldiers na lumalaban sa virus. Sometimes, your body produces too much too fast which results to cytokine storm, 'yun 'yung nagiging cause ng death. The melatonin addresses that para hindi kayo magka-storm, that's my understanding," the socialite explains.

Hydrate

It may sound cliche, but health experts keep on reminding their patients to stay hydrated so the body can function properly with or without illness.

"Hydrate, super hydrate talaga. That's one of the things na binilin sa 'min. We have to hydrate talaga because ang dami n'yong iniinom na gamot, your body's weak and is fighting the virus, so pagod 'yung katawan mo," Divine shares.

"I think, guys, you should do it daily, talaga namang may requirement to drink a lot."

Ultimately, what Divine and Blake are trying to stress is that people should take extra precaution because anyone can be infected with the virus. As per Divine's case, she was asymptomatic when she tested positive for COVID-19 and stayed at home the entire quarantine.

"Most people 'pag asymptomatic sila, deadma sila. I think hindi dapat gano'n. Everyone should take care of their health. I had nothing, I had no cough, no fever, asymptomatic.

"But when they did my first x-ray, medyo hazy 'yung lungs ko. So isipin n'yo kahit asymptomatic, may tama 'yung lungs ko although I did not feel it. So it's' good to at least get the check up done para malaman ny'o kung okay ba kayo," Divine suggests.
