Howie Severino battling covid19

Howie Severino admitted to writing his last will and calling his wife to say goodbye as he saw visions of death while battling COVID-19 at the hospital. He said, “I was seeing people who have died like my parents, and I thought I was joining them.”

Howie Severino admitted to writing his last will and calling his wife to say goodbye as he saw visions of death while battling COVID-19 at the hospital.

This was the GMA News pillar's revelation in the second part of his interview with Atom Araullo on Stand For Truth.

Howie identified his early days of confinement as the most challenging part of his fight against the new coronavirus disease.

He recalled, “Mahina 'yung katawan ko and you know may edad na rin ako so akala ko, 'Kaya ba ng puso ko 'to?' Hindi ako makakain, hindi ako makatulog, meron pa akong matinding sakit, so I thought I was really dying.”

“Sumulat na ako ng will that night. I was starting to be delirious and I was seeing visions of death. I was seeing people who have died like my parents, and I thought I was joining them. So I was really in that downward spiral.”

According to Howie, what helped him get through it was when his wife Ipat Luna walked him through meditation and breathing exercises. He also expressed his appreciation to people who helped take his mind off his health condition beyond the usual get-well-soon messages.

The Kapuso broadcast journalist reveals more about his experience against COVID-19 in a special i-Witness documentary airing on Saturday, April 18.

He emphasizes, “Una, may responsibilidad 'yung mga survivor. You know there's so much mystery, and fear, and dread, and hysteria, and I think a lot of this is because of ignorance. And a lot of the ignorance is because people don't want to talk about it in an open way, in an honest way. So kumbaga, I kinda have authority to talk about it. I'm a patient who lived through this, who survived it.”
