Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster

Hugh Jackman's positive diagnosis has had repercussions on his Broadway stint

COVID-19 continues to affect the entertainment industry, with the latest to be affected being Hugh Jackman and his run on The Music Man on Broadway after the actor revealed his positive diagnosis.

On his Twitter account, Hugh posted a 35-second video of him announcing to his fans that he tested positive for the disease and is now experiencing mild symptoms. He also assured fans and followers that he will be doing everything that he can to get better and promised that he will be back on stage as soon as everything is clear. He ended the video by telling everyone to be safe and kind.

Because of his positive diagnosis, performances of The Music Man on Broadway have been canceled until January 1, with refunds and exchanges available for the tickets for those performances.

Hugh is actually the second person to test positive for COVID-19 on the production. His co-star, Sutton Foster, missed several performances after testing positive for the virus and is set to come back to the production on January 2. Hugh is expected to return on January 6.

A number of other Broadway shows have had breakthrough infections as well, such as Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Hamilton, and The Lion King. Shows like Waitress, Jagged Little Pill, and Ain't Too Proud have even closed because of the continued COVID-19 spread.

Filipino-American Jo Koy has also had to cancel his own show after members of his family and crew tested positive for COVID-19.

A couple of weeks ago, singer-songwriter Charlie Puth also revealed on his Twitter account that he was also a breakthrough COVID-19 case and called on his followers to be “safe and careful.”

Another industry affected by COVID-19 is the Korean entertainment industry, with a number of actors and idols testing positive for the virus over the course of the pandemic. Check them out in the gallery below.
