Gabby Eigenmann has played all sorts of roles since his younger days, but this time, he sure wants to be a bad guy.
Gabby Eigenmann has been in the business since he was little and has literally grown up in front of the camera. He has done roles from teenybopper movies to drama and comedy. This time around, he’s decided that he wants to be bad. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio Gabby has always been given different roles and projects by the Kapuso network. Aside from acting, he’s also tried singing and hosting. Gabby is no less than the son of veteran actor Mark Gil. And truly, he is living up to his family’s name as a clan with top-caliber actors and performers. In no hurry Though Gabby started young, he is in no hurry to go to the top and is quite content in small but sure steps towards stardom. “I’ve done 40 commercials before I entered showbiz,” says the young Eigenmann. “I never imagined myself in this industry pero when I entered…ang lagi ko lang sinasabi sa sarili ko, I’m just here to work and entertain people. But with regards to me being impatient of where would my career go, I‘d rather be here because it is hard to maintain when you are up there.” At the moment, he is playing a significant role in the top-rating afternoon soap Magdusa Ka. Going bad Gabby may have played lots of different roles before, but right now, he tells us that he really wants to be a bad guy—a kontrabida. In fact, his memorable role so far was that of an antagonist. “I don’t know if you remember Sunshine Dizon. I was a bad guy there and it was supposed to be an award-winning performance,” Gabby says. He adds that he’s more comfortable playing a bad guy and is challenged by the emotions and intensity the role requires of him. “More depth and different attacks kasi,” Gabby explains. “I’ve played kontrabida for he longest time but I don’t consider my roles as the same. I may be a rapist or a killer but they’re different. Maraming atake, maraming pwedeng gawin.” Indeed, Gabby’s improvement as an actor is evident in all the projects he’s involved in.
