While it's not quite the anticipated opening of its physical store, Filipino fans of IKEA can get an early taste of the famous furniture retailer's wares as it opens its online store in the country.
A post on its Facebook page announced that their online store in the Philippines is “currently on a test run and has limited capacity.” The announcement came with a photo of a DRILL, in reference to the website launch being a drill.
IKEA opening a physical store in the country was constantly rumored but only pushed through this year. The furniture giant had earlier planned to open a store here in 2020, but the plans were scuttled by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, users who visit the online store can click on a number of items and either be given an option to “Add to cart” or told that the item is currently unavailable.

The physical store which is set to open at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City is reportedly its biggest store in the world, with a floor area of 65,000-square meters and 9,000 products that may include Philippine-made furniture.
The Philippine branch will also reportedly hire 500 workers.
