On Instagram, Janine said that the nominations for her and 'Babae at Baril' showed what women can do.
The production of Babae at Baril is led by women--writer-director Rae Red, and producers Bianca Balbuena-Liew and Iana Celest Bernardez.
“What a group of girls can do,” she wrote in the caption.
“Ecstatic and so grateful to the Gawad Urian, Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino for Babae at Baril's nominations in this year's festival.
“Congratulations to the team!!!”
Babae at Baril was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Music, Best Production Design, and Best Supporting Actor for JC Santos.
The film was also selected to be the opening film of the New York Asian Film Festival, which runs from August 28 to September 12.
Since the United States is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Asian Film Festival opted to go virtual this year. The films will be geo-blocked to the US during the duration of the festival.
