Jay R has so much reasons to celebrate his 20the showbiz anniversary and one of this is having his wife, Mica Javier.
So for his 20th anniversary album, the King of RnB dedicates the song “Blessed” to his wife, who is also a music artist.
“It's about my wife. I'm so blessed to have a partner na ganito,” Jay-R said about his new single that's released on Friday, September 1. GMANetwork.com and other select entertainment media interviewed Jay R and Mica in a pocket presscon held on Wednesday, August 30.
He continued, “You know, with 20 years in the industry, you sing about real life stories and not just about having fun partying. Ito talaga, I'm singing about stuff that I really care about and that's meaningful. You know, I figured why not talk about how I feel so much blessed with my partner in life.”

Meawhile, Jay R admitted that so much has changed in his 20 years of creating music.
He recalled, “Dati nagsa-sign kami ng CDs and tapes. Ngayon, it's digital and anyone can release music. On a daily basis it's tens of thousands that's being released every day.”
Because of that, Jay R highlighted the importance of staying relevant.
He said, “Now, you really have to make litaw, paano ako lilitaw sa mga kantang ito. I think, with my 20 years of experience I've put everything together in the music kaya I'm gonna really shine from the rest because of that experience. Siyempre, you can't just become an artist overnight.”
While the competition remains tough, Jay R reminded fellow music artists to keep it at a healthy level.
He recalled, “To describe my 20 years in the industry I would definitely say it's a rollercoaster. It's a rollercoaster of good and bad. I learned so much from the past.
“There was a lot of bad. This industry is very cutthroat. In any business naman. For some reason, in the music and entertainment industry, it's different kasi you're the forefront, you're in the camera.
“There's a lot of people that really want to step on your toes and they wanna be ahead of you and they wanna get better than you and all of that. Pero I welcome that kasi it really makes me strong.”
He then stressed, “It's fine to have a competition pero don't think that you have to step over somebody kasi you have your own lane and you're original. You can do your own thing.
“There's enough for all of us, don't worry about that. Just make sure you stay positive and don't dwell on the negativity about trying to get better than somebody.”
Aside from a new album, Jay R is also having a reunion concert with Kyla, titled Back in Time, at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City tonight, September 2.
He will also have an anniversary concert tour titled Twenty Up, which will kick of at the Crescendo Studios in Virginia, US on October 7.
