Jeric Raval candidly reflected on the realities of raising 18 children, saying it required years of sacrifice, hard work, and careful balancing of responsibilities.
After recalling the busiest chapter of his personal life, Jeric Raval said one of the reasons he ended up with such a big family was because he kept hoping to have a son after welcoming several daughters.
During his interview with Susan Enriquez on Kay Susan Tayo! Vlog, “Ang istorya niyan, kung ba't dumami 'yan nang dumami. Kahihintay kong may lumabas na lalaki. Puro babae, babae, babae.”
Now that he has six sons, the actor joked that he eventually stopped expanding his family.
“Anyway, nu'ng dumating na 'yung mga lalaki, itinigil ko na.”
Susan Enriquez then pointed out that he seemed to have ended up with more than enough boys, prompting Jeric to laugh.
“Masaya lang ako nu'n. Mapagbigay lang.”
Despite making light of the experience, Jeric was quick to stress that he does not recommend following in his footsteps.
“Hoy huwag niyo akong gagayahin ha. Mahirap ang time management, hindi uubra doon 'yung time management niyo.”
He admitted there were times when supporting all 18 of his children became especially difficult, particularly when the local movie industry slowed down.
“Naku, gagapang ka sa hirap. Walang trabaho. Pero itinawid ko 'yung 18 na 'yun sa panahon na patay ang movie industry.”
To provide for his family, Jeric said he accepted different sidelines outside of acting, including buying and selling cars, building and selling houses, taking construction projects, and even performing in bars in Japan.
Instead of describing himself as a singer, the actor laughed at how he simply made the most of every opportunity that came his way.
“Pakanta-kanta ka lang, hindi ka marunong kumanta. Bawat pupuntahan namin na bar, tatlong kanta, lilipat na naman kami. Lagari rito, tatlong kanta roon, lagari doon.”
He added that those gigs usually worked best when he was paired with a female celebrity.
“Pupunta lang ako doon 'pag may kasabay akong artistang babae. Kasi kung ikaw lang na lalaki, hindi ka panunuorin doon...”
