Seeing our pets sick is one of the painful experiences any fur parent can go through. Their usual jolly behavior suddenly turns fragile, relying wholly on their owner's warmth and love.
This was exactly what Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre star John Arcilla faced as he opened up about his growing worries for his beloved dog, Dindin.
In an emotional social media post, John shared a heartfelt message dedicated to his 14-year-old fur baby, who's currently battling health challenges.
"I don't play favorites — not at all. But my little 14-year-old Dindin… She has chosen her favorite human, and it happens to be me. So forgive me," he wrote.
He described Dindin's unwavering affection despite the struggles she has endured over the years.
"I don't know how anyone could resist reciprocating when a tiny creature shows you pure love, happiness, and contentment every single time she sees you — especially when she settles on your lap like she's home. She still looks like a pup. She's been blind for half her life, yet she remains fun-loving, warm, and endlessly content with us at home."
The actor then revealed that Dindin has been suffering from epilepsy, making the situation even more heartbreaking.
"Watching this gentle little soul go through her episodes right in front of my eyes… it's the saddest chapter of my life with my dogs," he shared.
"For the first time, I feel awkward posting about one of my pack's conditions. It doesn't feel right — maybe because it hurts so much. Maybe because I'm still trying to understand why I'm sharing it at all. I guess I want to normalize what I'm feeling. It's been bothering me so deeply that even in the middle of work, I find myself drifting. I can't imagine how a dog who lives every day with joy, trust, and innocence must now be sedated again and again just to be eased."
He added that after having up to 13 dogs in the past, this particular moment with Dindin is the most difficult he has ever faced.
"I don't know what to do. I don't know what to expect anymore. Maybe that's really why I'm posting this. I once had 13 dogs. I'm now down to 5. But this one… this is the most painful. For the first time, I wonder if I can still bear having dogs after this stage."
The actor ended his message by requesting prayers for his fur baby.
"If you pray — for dogs and for their humans — please don't hesitate to include us."
The post also included photos of John caring for Dindin during her treatment.
Fans quickly filled the comments section with messages of love, support, and prayers for both John and Dindin, wishing them strength during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, John has resumed taping as Hagorn in the GMA superserye Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre. He recently reunited with fellow 2016 cast members Rochelle Pangilinan and Glaiza De Castro.
