
John Vic De Guzman was recognized by the De La Salle University (DLSU) community in a special virtual ceremony staged yesterday, April 22.
The 7th One La Salle Night of Excellence was organized by the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) to honor alumni and alumnae for their noteworthy achievements in their respective fields and the community both during and after their stay in DLSU.
John Vic was feted for his achievements in sports as part of the school's volleyball squad and the Philippine national team.
The Kapuso athlete-actor played for the men's volleyball team of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
John Vic had a memorable stint in the NCAA, helping DLS-CSB reach the playoffs and win the championship in Season 92 in 2016 against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.
He was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and first best opposite spiker that season.
The Owe My Love actor currently competes as part of the national team.
He was part of the Philippine volleyball squad that won the silver medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games held here in the Philippines.
Also recognized during the ceremony was Melissa Gohing-Nacino for her achievements in the sport of volleyball as well.
Melissa, who is the wife of Kapuso actor Rocco Nacino, played for the DLSU Lady Spikers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). She nabbed the Rookie of the Year award in Season 71 and won four championships in her five-year stint with the team.
She currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the Premier Volleyball League.
