Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega's Cinemalaya movie As If It's True landed on Netflix Philippines' Top 10 less than a week after its release.

Directed by John Rogers, As If It's True tells the story of Gemma (Ashley), a social media influencer/content creator who is burning out to maintain the interest of her followers.

Gemma meets James (Khalil), a struggling musician suffering from depression, and they begin exploiting each other in a not-so-fake relationship. Gemma uses James for her content as a romance partner, while James uses Gemma for her wealth and connection to further his music.

In a previous interview, Ashley said that her first Cinemalaya film was a memorable experience.

“The whole experience is really nice and it's something na hindi ko makakalimutan kasi this is my first Cinemalaya movie and I've always wanted to do an indie film. I'm just really grateful dahil nabigyan ako ng opportunity tapos leading pa ako rito, so it's something memorable and a goal na I was able to achieve. And I'm just really proud kasi this year I got to do things na talagang part of my bucket list as an actor," she said.

For Khalil, he was happy that he got to go back to starring in a Cinemalaya movie.

He said, “Alam niyo naman na 'yung Cinemalaya is really the festival, kung saan lahat ng mga directors at storytellers ay nagde-debut ng kanilang mga kuwento. And just like Direk John, this is his baby and we're just very happy to be part of it and this story. Ang saya lang kasi sobrang collaborative ng buong team.”
