After their lavish wedding in Italy in May 2014, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to part ways. News broke out that the reality TV star and beauty mogul filed for divorce from her rapper husband in a Los Angeles court.

The Guardian reported that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their four children.

Early in January, there were already speculations about Kim and Kanye's break up. NBC News reported that based on their source, the couple was undergoing marriage counseling to save their marriage.

"Kanye loves his extended family. They are super close. They have been going to therapy. They are working on their marriage."

The popular rapper has been open to the public about his struggles with bipolar disorder.

Kim also showed her full support for her husband and posted a lengthy message about his condition in a July 2020 Instagram post.

Kim posted then, "Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor," she wrote. "People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try."

She added, "He is a brilliant but complicated person who is on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar disorder."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Kim and Kanye began dating in 2012, while Kim was in the middle of her divorce proceedings with second husband, basketball cager, Kris Humphries.

She also divorced music producer Damon Thomas in 2003.

This period is going to be a difficult time for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's family, especially their kids. They have four children namely: North 'Nori', Saint West, Chicago 'Chi', and their youngest Psalm West.
