Korean couple Bulhwi and Yejin shared their thoughts on Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) on their YouTube channel named KorPhil Lover.
In their vlog, they shared why they chose to review the teaser of the local adaptation of the hit 2016 Korean series, Descendants of the Sun.
Based on its English subtitles, Bulhwi said: "The reasons why I'm interested in this video is, first of all, I had a lot of military training, especially I have to go to the army as on officer next year.
“After Descendants of the Sun went to air, the image of soldiers improved greatly, so the competition rate for ROTC had been extremely high at that time, and Song Joong Ki was very cool in that drama.
“So my image of soldiers changed a lot. And in the Philippine version, I really wonder how [are Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's role.] I hope it's cool."
Bulhwi and Yejin noticed both the similarities and the difference among the lead actors like Dingdong Dantes, who portrays Cpt. Lucas.
Yejin said, "It feels different 'cause the Song-Song couple had a very gentle image in Korean version but they have quite tough image, I think, in here."
Bulhwi then agreed to Yejin, "Song Joong Ki had a gentle and cute images before but he changed it totally in this drama.
“Yes, he was gentle, I think, but this actor [referring to Dingdong] looks very masculine."
However, the blogger couple's reaction to Jennylyn Mercado, who plays Dr. Maxine, is merely opposite to what they thought about Dingdong.
Yejin uttered, "This actress a bit looks like Song Hye Kyo."
Bulhwi then added, "I think that's why she got casted."
When the teaser started showing Rocco's scenes, Bulhwi can't help but rave about the Kapuso actor's resemblance to Jin Goo, the Korean actor who played TSg Diego in the original version of Descendants of the Sun. "This actor is really just like the Korean actor. Wow, totally looks like him!!! I got goose bumps!!!"
In conclusion, Bulhwi and Yejin gave positive remarks about Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation), praising the good casting of the series.
Yejin said, "The actors were exotic that I can feel this drama is very different from original.
“Everyone is so pretty and handsome! Maybe [those] actors are all famous.
“I think [those] actors seem to fit well with the roles as well as [the actors from the] original. I think the casting is good!"
Adding to what his girlfriend has shared, Bulhwi expressed his interest in watching the series. "Since the original was [aired] in the Philippines, it would be fun to compare it to the original! We wanna watch it, too!"
