Kris Lawrence, the Prince of R&B, has added another major milestone to his career—being recognized as one of this year's Top 100 Most Influential Filipinos in the World.
The award was presented during the Outstanding Filipino Awards (TOFA) ceremony held at the Orleans Showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 17. Hosted by the King of Talk, Boy Abunda, the annual event honors Filipinos who have made a significant impact in various fields, including public service, education, sports, fashion, science, and entertainment.
Now celebrating its 15th year, TOFA was founded in 2010 by Filipino journalist and community leader Elton Lugay to spotlight Filipinos whose work and influence extend globally.
Kris joined an illustrious roster of honorees that included boxing legend Nonito Donaire, internationally acclaimed actress Dolly de Leon, Queen of Soul Jaya, singer-actress Rachel Alejandro, and Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, among others.
“Honestly, kinilig ako!” Kris shared, recalling his reaction when he first learned of the honor.
“It's one thing to be recognized for your craft, but to be named among the Top 100 Most Influential Filipinos in the World—that's a whole different level. It reminded me that every song, every show, every story I've shared has touched lives in ways I never imagined.”
Since winning the second season of Search for the Star in a Million in 2006, Kris has built an enduring career defined by soulful vocals and heartfelt artistry. His accolades include multiple Awit Awards, such as Most Downloaded Artist and Most Downloaded Song of the Year (2011, for “Careless Whisper”), Best R&B Recording (2010, 2015, 2018), R&B Album of the Year (2014, 2016), and R&B Artist of the Year (2014, 2016, 2024). He also won Masked Singer Philippines Season 2 in 2024.
When asked about the significance of the recognition, Kris reflected:
“From what I understand, it's based on influence, achievement, consistency, and contribution to culture—both locally and abroad. But more than numbers, it's about the impact. For me, influence means inspiring others to dream bigger, to believe in themselves, and to walk in purpose.”

As a father, the citation carries even deeper meaning for him.
“The older I get, the more I realize that influence is responsibility,” Kris said. “Now that I'm a dad, I want my kids to see that success isn't just about fame or trophies—it's about integrity and how you make others feel.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kris takes pride in representing Filipino excellence on international soil.
“Choosing to build my career in the Philippines gave me the best of both worlds,” he said. “Getting this recognition from a US-based organization makes me proud to showcase what it means to be Filipino—our talent, resilience, and heart. Wherever I go, I carry that flag with me.”
A concert dubbed Piliin Mo ang Pilipino followed the awards night on October 18 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino, featuring electrifying performances from Kris, Jaya, Nonoy Zuñiga, and other celebrity guests.
“That night was pure energy,” Kris recalled. “It felt like one big reunion—artists celebrating each other's wins and reminding the world that Filipino talent is world-class.”
Fresh off the honor, Kris continues to stay busy promoting his latest single, “Nobody,” a song inspired by his daughter Katie.
“The response has been amazing!” he said. “It's such a personal track, and I'm happy people feel the authenticity behind it.”
He's also gearing up for a string of international shows—Auckland, New Zealand (November 8), Cebu (December 5), and Dubai (December 13)—to close out a landmark year.
“This recognition just fuels me to create more music that uplifts and connects,” Kris shared. “Being back in the States for four months helped reignite my creativity. I'm excited for the new music coming next year. The journey continues, and I'm grateful to still be doing what I love."
