
Lea Salonga marked another historic career milestone as she is set to become the first Filipina to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in September.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the iconic Walk of Fame, in a statement said Lea will be honored with the 2,855th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 4 at 6255 Hollywood Boulevard.
The Broadway icon and internationally-acclaimed performer will receive a star in the Live Performance category.

“Lea Salonga is a true trailblazer whose extraordinary talent and decades-long career have inspired audiences around the world. We are thrilled to honor her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and especially proud that she will be the first Filipina to receive this iconic recognition,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez was quoted as saying.
Martinez highlighted that Lea's latest feat is not only a milestone for her but also “for the Filipino community and for generations of artists who will follow in her footsteps.”

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also underscored how Lea is known globally for her powerful voice and perfect pitch, and listed some of her most iconic works and roles, including being the singing voice of Princess Jasmine and Mulan.
Aside from her own star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Lea will also be awarded with the “Icon Award” at the Manila International Film Festival's (MIFF) on September 6.
