Confirmed! Lee Young-ae will be returning as Jang Geum from 'Jewel in the Palace' in a new K-drama.
After 20 years, Lee Young-ae is set to reprise her iconic role as Jang Geum from the classic historical K-drama Jewel in the Palace in a brand-new series.
According to a Soompi report on Tuesday, January 30, entertainment company Fantagio confirmed that the actress will return as Jang Geum in the new drama Uinyeo Dae Jang Geum, which is scheduled to start filming in October and will air early next year.
"With lead actress Lee Young-ae having been cast last year in June, we recently wrapped up signing the contract with the drama scriptwriter," the agency stated.
The new drama will follow the life of Jang Geum as she becomes a uinyeo, a female physician, which continues the story of Jewel in the Palace.
Jewel in the Palace currently airs on GTV from Monday to Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
