How do Lexi Gonzales, Elijah Alejo, and Hailey Mendes "recover" from doing emotionally-draining scenes in 'Underage'?
Sparkle artists Lexi Gonzales, Elijah Alejo, and Hailey Mendes have proven that they aren't just onscreen sisters in the GMA Afternoon Prime series Underage but that they are real life best friends as well.
During their Kapuso Artistambayan guesting, host Betong Sumaya delved into the acting process of each and asked them how they got through their heavy dramatic scenes. Hailey, who took on the role of Carrie Serrano, admitted that she leaned on Lexi and Elijah to overcome most of the heavy scenes.
“Nagco-connect po talaga kami sa isa't isa bago mag eksena. After naman po ng mabigat na eksena, kinocomfort po namin 'yung isa't isa, nagyayakapan po kami,” Hailey shared.
Lexi, who portrays the character of Celine Serrano, echoed Hailey sentiments and admitted it wasn't an easy process. From the staff to directors, everyone was supportive from the beginning to the end which made it easier for them to evoke the emotions they needed to produce for each scene.
Elijah, who took on the role of Chynna Serrano, also revealed, “Depende sa eksena kung paano i-internalize. Mahirap mag internalize lalo na pag hindi mo sya na-experience so nagtutulungan kami nina Hailey and Lexi. Ako kasi 'yung mahirap kumalas madalas. Kahit tapos na 'yung eksena umiiyak pa rin ako.”
Despite the challenge, the three made sure to give warm embraces to each other after every scene. In fact, after a heavy scene, they can oftentimes be spotted laughing with each other as if nothing happened.
Kapuso actor Jome Silayan who took on the role of Rico Siguenza admired the professionalism of the three. He said, “Nakikita ko sila, nakikita ko 'yung process nila more of kumukuha sila ng energy from isa't isa. Very professional ang dating.”
