It's been a year since the COVID-19 pandemic began and many things have happened since then.
According to the March 30 report of the World Health Organization (WHO), as of 2:34 p.m. CEST, there have been 127,349,248 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,787,593 deaths worldwide.
But hope is on the horizon as COVID-19 vaccinations have begun since December 8, 2020.
Although there are known natural side effects and a few controversial adverse effects and deaths that have been reported after getting the vaccine, many people seem to have confidence in its effectiveness and safety.
WHO says that as of March 28, a total of 520,540,106 vaccine doses have been administered globally.
And among those who have already been inoculated against COVID-19 are Hollywood celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Amy Schumer, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
On March 21, 'Basic Instinct' actress Sharon Stone revealed that she already got her first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
American actress and stand-up comedian Amy Schumer also got the COVID-19 vaccine a couple of days ago. She even wore a glamorous, shiny gold dress with a hole cut out in the left arm.
In a video she shared on Instagram, she even made the medical staff laugh with a not-suitable-for-work joke about the vaccine.
The iconic “I Finally Found Someone” singer and EGOT awardee, Barbra Streisand, also shared on IG yesterday that she and her husband Jim have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Another Hollywood celebrity who has been fully vaccinated is 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' star, Sarah Michelle Gellar (SMG).
Part of her IG caption reads, “I am proud to say that I am fully vaccinated against #covid_19. As someone who suffers from severe asthma, and has been hospitalized because of it, this last year has been really scary.”
SMG also emphasized that getting inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine isn't only about getting personal protection. It's also about protecting others, especially your loved ones and those who have a weak immune system.
“But I didn't just get this shot for me. I got it for all the immune compromised people. I got it for every person that lost a loved one due to covid.
“I got it, in the hopes that all kids can return safely to school. I got it, for all people who found themselves suddenly unemployed due to covid, in the hopes they can get back on their feet.
“I got it for all the families that in a moment, found themselves food insecure and worried where their next meal would come from.
“I got it because I miss my friends and family and hugs.”
So far, there have been many senior Hollywood celebrities who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Some of them are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Samuel L. Jackson, Elton John, Kim Cattrall, Sean Penn, Whoopi Goldberg, Anthony Hopkins, Dolly Parton, Martha Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Tom Jones, Judi Dench, Bette Midler, Steve Martin, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and Stanley Tucci.
'Queer Eye' host Jonathan Van Ness, who's also a person living with HIV, have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Acclaimed composer Andrew Lloyd Weber and 'New York Times'-bestselling novelist, Stephen King, are also among the personalities who have been inoculated so far.
