During the first week of Love in the Moonlight, we get to meet mischievous Crown Prince Lee-yeong and Hong Sam-nom, a woman dressing up as a man.

In the first episode, we get to witness Hong Sam-nom in her element helping out a customer by giving him proper dating advice. As the resident love guru, she helped him realize that distance can make the heart grow fonder.

Meanwhile, in the Palace, Crown Prince Lee-yeong discovers the love letter written to her sister, asking if they could meet in person. The letter is revealed to be written by his sister's admirer with the guidance of Hong Sam-nom.

As Crown Prince Lee-yeong tries to gauge his sister's admirer, he decides to meet him. The nervous secret admirer asked for Hong Sam-nom's help meeting the princess. Hong Sam-nom and Crown Prince Lee-yeong met each other and got stuck in a pit.

After managing to get out of the pit, Hong Sam-nom leaves Crown Prince Lee-yeong and promised to make up to him when they meet again. Upon arriving in the city, Hong Sam-nom gets kidnapped by her debt collectors who sold her off to become a eunuch in the Palace.

After being able to trick the man into thinking he was able to cut off Hong Sam-nom's private part, she tries to escape the palace but runs into Crown Prince Lee-yeong who was pushing her to continue his journey into becoming a eunuch. The next day, she nervously starts her training.

In order to become a eunuch, one must prove to the head eunuchs that their private parts have been cut off by showing them to them. Being a woman, Hong Sam-nom hesitates to show hers. Luckily, an emergency in the palace occurred and she was able to pass the physical test.

As part of her training into becoming a eunuch, Hong Sam-nom was tasked by the head eunuch to catch some livestock for the celebration of the King's new son. Tasked to catch a lot of chicken, Hong Sam-nom was able to grant the head eunuch's impossible request.

As the princess was reviewing the test answers of the eunuchs, she discovers the familiar handwriting of her secret admirer. She finds out it was Hong Sam-nom's and calls upon her. Without any clue they were writing to the princess, Hong Sam-nom admits her mistake and was destined to be killed.
