Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez turned emotional after witnessing the college graduation of her daughter Juliana Ma. Beatrice T. Gomez.

Juliana, a student athlete, graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in public administration. What's more, the fencing champion also earned cum laude honors from her alma mater.

In her Instagram post, Juliana thanked her school for giving her the chance to represent it, saying, “Isang karangalan ang maging Iskolar-Atleta ng Bayan. Maraming salamat sa pagkakataon na ito, UP! Mahal na mahal kita. #Sablay2024”

Lucy also wrote a heartwarming letter for Juliana in the comment section of her post and admitted that seeing her graduate was an emotional one.

“The sight of you last night, all grown up and graduating from U.P., made me all weepy,” she shared.

“I love you and am endlessly and wonderfully proud of you, my little love. You have worked so hard, but also so quietly. As you always do. Shine on. The best is yet to come.”

Last March, Juliana successfully defended her epee individual crown in the UAAP Season 86 Women's Fencing competition held at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.
