DIY UV sterilizer box of Lyn Ching

Check out the latest project of 'Unang Hirit' host Lyn Ching.

With a lot of time in her hands, Unang Hirit host Lyn Ching tries to be productive at home while under quarantine.

'Unang Hirit' Lyn Ching looks back on her 25 years as a Kapuso

In fact, the long-time Kapuso shared her latest do-it-yourself project, wherein she assembled a UV sterilizer box using available materials around.

Lyn explained that by having a UV sterilizer box, she will be able to save time in disinfecting things that they bring inside the house.

She said, "Achievement unlocked!!! I made my very own UV sterilizer box. Inisip ko kase how inconvenient it is to wash every single thing that we bring home with soap and water or soak them in disinfectant.

"It takes too long and sometimes you'll miss a spot or two."

The Kapuso host also shared the things you will need for your own DIY sterilizer box.

"So i checked out UV boxes online, and most of them are too small for groceries and quite pricey. So i decided to make my own using the stuff i already have here at home: an emptied out plastic container, leftover insulation (from when we renovated my kids' rooms) and my room UV sterilizer lamp.

"I just cut up the insulation and put them on all sides of the box so that the UV will be reflected all over which would serve me well when i have many grocery items inside the box."

It is not surprising that Lyn loves the challenge of creating something out of nothing, because she didn't have extra money to buy stuff for herself many years ago.

"When i was young i used old stuff to make things i didn't hve extra money to buy: book ends (using used box flaps and thin ropes), pen holders (using bathroom tissue cores, box flaps, glue and stickers or paint to decorate) etc. it's fun to make with something at the end u can be proud of. I'm so happy."

So i decided to make my own using the stuff i already have here at home: an emptied out plastic container, leftover insulation (from when we renovated my kids' rooms) and my room UV sterilizer lamp. I just cut up the insulation and put them on all sides of the box so that the UV will be reflected all over which would serve me well when i have many grocery items inside the box. • Before i decided on using my leftover insulation sheets, i was thinking of using any of the ff: aluminum foil (but will tear easily), reflective car sun shade or the oil splatter aluminum u can buy in Daiso. As long as its reflective i think it will be usable... I think.... but better research ha. • Anyway, i already ordered online UV light that i can attach permanently to the cover of the box. always check the wavelength nga pala because there is a specific wavelength it has to have to serve its purpose. I ordered the 8w with 250++nm. Depending on where u buy and what size, it should be less than P400. • since im so excited to see if my box worked, im using my three month old UV room sterilizer. I'll show u the final product when i get and attach my actual perma light ✅ in the meantime.... let me enjoy this tiny achievement. • When i was young i used old stuff to make things i didn't hve extra money to buy: book ends (using used box flaps and thin ropes), pen holders (using bathroom tissue cores, box flaps, glue and stickers or paint to decorate) etc. it's fun to make with something at the end u can be proud of. I'm so happy 😀 • **yes, this is my favorite shirt so expect to see this a lot more on my feed 🤣** **u think i should pick mangoes today? Since i'm wearing my dukot-manga uniform?** • • #UVBox #UVSterilizerBox #UVSterilizer #DIY #AtHome #unanghirit @unanghirit #proudlyHomeMade #HomeMade #TooCheapToBuy #Tipid #TipidTips
