Content creator and Dogshow Divas host Macoy Dubs considers bringing joy through his work as the reason behind his “ngiting tagumpay.”
At the “Ngiting Tagumpay” event organized by Polident and Sensodyne held last week, Macoy Dub, known in real life as Macoy Averilla, shared that he has been in the industry for nearly a decade.
Throughout these years, he said he learned the importance of constantly reinventing himself to keep people interested in his content.
“Alam mo, ang content creation, sabi nila, ang lifespan ng isang content creator ay nasa two years. Pero ako natutuwa kasi magte-10 years na tayo next year, sa 2027.
“Merong highs and lows din talaga, parang sa mainstream, di ba? Sa mainstream celebrities, meron din talaga minsan na walang masyadong projects.
“Pero ako kasi, sa case ko naman, since social media ang ating mga bread and butter, ang importante kasi sa akin ay ba yung consistency sa pag-upload, and also reinventing your ideas and how to be there pa rin,” Macoy told GMANetwork.com and other media in a short interview after the event.
One reinvention Macoy hopes to pursue is becoming an actor, something he has long dreamed of.
He said, “For me, in the past 10 years, naging dubber ako, naging TikTok content creator hanggang sa naging automotive. 'Tapos, ngayon nagpo-podcast kami. So for me naman, siguro yung gusto ko namang pasukan yung pag-aarte sa pelikula. Yun naman ang dream ko rin na sana ay mangyari.”
He added, “Meron akong mga naging proyekto noong pre-pandemic and then after the pandemic. Pero hinihintay ko din yung magkaroon tayo ng role na… Kasi wala namang malilit at malaking role, di ba? Sa television at pelikula pero yung role natin, kumbaga, yung medyo major nang kaunti, okay na ako dun.”

While waiting for that opportunity, Macoy remains busy with content creation and the Dogshow Divas podcast.
According to the comedian-host, he closely monitors the reactions of listeners to their hit podcast with Baus Rufo.
“Mixed reactions, maraming natutuwa, meron din mga hindi masyadong masaya. Pero alam mo, ang pinaka-nilo-look forward naman namin is yung meron kaming napapangiti at napapasaya sa mga ina-upload namin.
“Kami ni Baus, we're very thankful and we're very happy din sa producer namin, na talagang naniwala din sa brand ng talk show ni Baus. But, you know what, what we're very thankful for as of the moment is the amount of love and support from our DDS Nation family.”
Were they affected by comments, especially negative ones?
Macoy replied, “Pero sa akin naman kasi 10 years naman na natin ginagawa to sa social media. Kahit may mga basher ako, wala na akong feelings d'yan.”
He also clarified that they do not follow any script for the podcast.
“Walang script talaga. Just to set the record straight, walang script, pero bago kami mag-recording, nag-usap kami: 'Kumusta yung araw mo? Kumusta yung mga ganap mo last week? Meron ka bang pinagtadaanan?' Kumbaga, meron kami sense check na tawag. Meron kaming anchor, meron kami keyword and then, saka na lang siya mangangak nang manangak.”
Macoy believes their strong relationship, even before the show was formed, helps them run the program without a script.
He explained, “Feeling ko, ang sikreto dito talaga is yung commitment din, commitment doon sa craft. Also, since improv kasi parehas, may background kami sa improv… 'Pag improv kasi, ang mastery nun, walang script din walang linya na kinakabisado, Kailangan mag-bring up ka or gagawa ka ng kuwento sa utak mo tsaka mo siya ibabato.
“And yung sikreto din dito kasi, is yung relationship din naming dalawa na bago naman namin gawin ang Dogshow Divas magkakilala kami at makakatrabaho na kami together.”
They are also hoping to feature more celebrities on the program. For Macoy, one of those on his list is Kapuso journalist Atom Araullo.
“Nasa wishlist ko, gusto ko ma-interview si Atom Araullo. Kung hindi naman si Sir Atom, hopefully, si Christian Vasquez,” Macoy ended laughing.
