Marian Rivera in Cinemalaya entry Balota


Marian Rivera will star in the Cinemalaya movie 'Balota,' written, produced, and directed by Kip Oebanda. The movie will be co-produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group.

Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera is set to star in this year's Cinemalaya entry Balota, co-produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group, and writer and director Kip Oebanda.

Written and directed by Kip Oebanda, Balota tells the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race fo the mayoral seat of a small town.

Emmy (Marian), a teacher who serves in the election, runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.

Emmy and the community try to outsmart and outmaneuver the goons who want the elections to fail.

The 2024 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival will happen on August 2 to 11.

Marian Rivera currently stars in the GMA Prime series My Guardian Alien in which she portrays an alien named 11-1-20-8-5-22-9-12-5 who accidentally crashes from space into planet Earth. The alien then takes the form of a deceased woman named Katherine.

Directed by Zig Dulay, My Guardian Alien airs Mondays to Fridays, 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime, Pinoy Hits, and Kapuso Stream. The show also airs on GTV every 10:30 p.m.
