The 'Voltes V: Legacy' main villain explains why he was eligible to be vaccinated despite his seemingly good health.

Add Martin del Rosario among the celebrities who are now vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Kapuso actor recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram while holding a vaccination card issued by Quezon City health authorities as proof that he was inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine.

“Got my first dose today,” the 28-year-old actor wrote in the caption.

But while some were happy for the actor, others were wondering how Martin was able to get himself vaccinated.

The Philippines at the moment is prioritizing certain groups or sectors for the vaccination drive per municipality.

Those deemed eligible to get inoculated first includes senior citizens, health workers, frontline personnel in essential sectors, and those with comorbidities or individuals with underlying medical conditions.

From the looks of it, Martin, aside from being young, looks physically healthy to be included in the priority list - an assumption that the actor was quick to debunk.

“Asthma runs in the family. From my mom, to my aunties and to my sisters, although mine is non-allergic asthma and is relatively mild,” Martin said.

“I started having bouts with asthma after high school. It was difficult for me to deal with it during that time as I was busy juggling college life and showbiz. Stress was one trigger for an attack.”

He continued, “I still have occasional bouts with it especially when I'm stressed. It is also usually triggered by the sudden change of weather. This is the reason why I do regular workouts to strengthen my lungs and increase my lung capacity. Plus, of course, I take medication and supplements for my overall wellness.”

His asthma condition made him fall under the vaccination campaign's A3 category or people with comorbidities.

“I found it necessary to go and have myself vaccinated for my protection,” Martin, who will be portraying the main villain role of Prince Zardoz in GMA's upcoming live-action series Voltes V: Legacy, explained further.

In closing, Martin stressed that what he uploaded on Instagram was “not a boast post” as some might have perceived.

“It was meant to encourage all Filipinos to go for it to have yourselves protected. It is the best thing you can give to yourself and to your family.”
