
Kapuso reporter and documentarist Mav Gonzales recently shared the reality of childbirth expenses in 2026.
In a Facebook post, the journalist shared a video of herself during the process of giving birth, revealing how much she spent on childbirth at Makati Medical Center.
"How much did my birth in Makati Medical Center cost in 2026?" the text in the video read.
She revealed that the birthing suite cost P53,720, while her normal delivery, epidural, medical supplies, and medicines cost P115,163.26.
Mav also shared that she underwent a blood transfusion after losing a significant amount of blood, which cost P40,315. She also shared that her room accommodations totaled P43,600.
Meanwhile, the baby's hospital bill amounted to P30,284. The pediatrician's fee was P58,478, while the anesthesiologist's fee was P128,306 and the OB-GYN's fee was P258,294.
At the end of the video, she revealed that the total bill amounted to P728,160.26. After deducting the P29,000 PhilHealth benefit for the mom and P5,119.50 for the baby, the final bill came to P694,040.76.
"Starting a GoFundMe now," she playfully wrote in the caption.
The GMA News reporter gave birth to her daughter, Maya, on May 25, 2026.
Mav tied the knot with Matthew Valeña in 2025 and had a second wedding ceremony in 2026.
