Who among these contestants will capture the hearts of Filipinos and be hailed as the first ever Pinoy Idol? Get to know a little about each one of them in this iGMA contestant brief. Starting this weekend, the top 12 men and women will perform in the Idol stage and the viewers will get to decide who among these Idol hopefuls will get to stay on and pursue that dream of stardom. Ranging from 16 to 28 years-old Pinoy Idol's top 24 is a wide selection of the hottest vocal talent. Some of the aspirants are professional singers while others are students who simply love to sing. But all of them have one thing in common: they want to be the first ever Pinoy Idol. To guide you in your selection process, here are some tidbits about the Pinoy Idol Top 24 and their answer to why you should vote for them: Watch them perform this weekend (top 12 men perform this Friday, May 23, 10:30 pm/ top 12 ladies perform this Saturday, May 24, 6:45 pm) and have your say in who gets to stay in the competition. To vote text: IDOL (name of contestant) and send to 367 for Smart/Talk 'n Text, 2344 for other networks. Standard texting charges apply. This service is available only in the Philippines. To give updates on the Idol hopefuls as the show progresses, Pinoy Idol Extra will air starting on May 25 to offer the viewers behind the scenes footage and highlights of the contenders throughout the competition. Karylle and Rhian Ramos have been tapped as the hosts of Pinoy Idol Extra where they will present the struggles and drama in the life of each aspirant. Pinoy Idol Extra will be shown every Sunday night right after S.O.P. and weekdays after Witch Yoo Hee.
