Michael de Mesa to Cherie Gil: “You are loved, remembered, and missed more than words can say”
Seasoned TV-movie actor Michael de Mesa honored the memory of his late sister, the highly-respected actress Cherie Gil, on her birthday last Sunday, June 21.
Cherie, regarded as a "primera kontrabida" in the local entertainment scene passed away at the age of 59 in August 2022.
Prior to her death, she was diagnosed with a rare form of endometrial cancer.
Posting a throwback photo with his sibling, the Destiny Rose actor penned a heartfelt message for Cherie saying, “Happy birthday in heaven, dearest Cherie. You are loved, remembered, and missed more than words can say.”
Many celebrities and netizens reacted to Michael's birthday post including Zsazsa Padilla, who shared that she deeply misses Cherie, while Ara Mina, left a short birthday greeting for the legendary actress.
Meanwhile, Michael's other brother, Mark Gil succumbed to liver cancer in 2014. Mark is the father of versatile actors Gabby Eigenmann, Sid Lucero, and Andi Eigenmann.
