The Tacloban City government has ordered the strict enforcement of the city’s curfew for minors following the shooting at San Jose National High School on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Under the measure, minors are prohibited from staying in public places from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Authorities said the curfew will be implemented rigorously in the San Jose area and throughout the city as part of heightened security efforts.
Police visibility and intensified patrol operations in San Jose and other key public areas will also be beefed up, including at the Sangyawan Grounds, to help maintain peace and order.
According to the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO), minors will not be allowed entry to the Sangyawan Grounds unless accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
City officials urged the public to cooperate with authorities as security measures are strengthened to help ensure public safety and maintain peace and order in the city.
As of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the death toll from the shooting incident remains at three, while the number of individuals who sustained gunshot wounds has risen to 15,
The City Information Office (CIO) added that five other individuals were injured during the commotion that followed the incident, with their injuries not related to gunfire.
CIO said the figures were presented by the police during an ongoing inter-agency meeting at the school campus as authorities continue their security assessment and investigation.
Authorities are looking into personal grudge that may have stemmed from bullying as possible motive in the incident.
In a report by GMA’s 24 Oras, police said one of the firearms used in the shooting was traced to a policewoman while the other was linked to a security agency in Cebu City.
Police said the policewoman is now under investigation and placed under restrictive custody while authorities are still looking into which security guard the other firearm was issued to, specifically.
The minor suspects, both considered children in conflict with the law (CICL), are now under police custody.
