Comedian and longtime Voltes V fan Michael V. expressed how he's “very satisfied” with Voltes V: Legacy after he watched the cinematic experience version of the series in the theater.
Before its TV airing, Voltes V: Legacy first premiered an edited version of the first three weeks of the series in select cinemas which other Kapuso artists and fans also watched. Stars like Sofia Pablo, Allen Ansay, Jeric Gonzales, Elijah Alejo, among others have nothing but praise for the cinematic version of the Mecha series.
In his review, Michel V., who is also fondly known as Bitoy, identified the different types of audiences of Voltes V: the fans, the purists, and the casual viewers to which he identified himself as “all three.”
“As a casual viewer, I liked it! I like the story, the actors and the production. As a purists there are some technical aspects and characterization na feeling ko, could be better. But as a fan, I loved it and appreciated it,” he said.
He added, “Sa simula pa lang naluha na 'ko! Hindi ako makapaniwala na during my lifetime, 'yung kinababaliwan kong robot nu'ng grade school pa ako e pinapanood ko ang live action version sa big screen and surround sound, no less! As a fan, I felt so blessed.”
He then noted some nuances he noticed with the series, including keeping certain key plot points a secret “for casual viewers to enjoy.”
The comedian-actor and director also noted the special effects used in the series, expressing how impressed he is with the effects used in Bozania, Camp Big Falcon, and the alien invasion scene.
He noted that the VFX will be “mind-blowing” on TV.
“Riot Inc. Post Production did an AMAZING job on the robots especially Voltes V. S'ya naman talaga kasi 'yung inaantay ko and seeing Voltes in this form for the first time made me cry! As in magkahawak kami ng kamay ni misis tapos umiyak talaga kaming dalawa during the volt-in sequence!” he said.
With regards to the Voltes Team and Dr. Smith, Bitoy said that they are visually perfect, but performance-wise, it was Ned Armstrong (Dennis Trillo), Oscar Robinson (Gabby Eigenmann) & Draco (Carlo Gonzales) who “stood out the best” for him.
“'Yung acting nila is SPOT ON and very believable. They owned the characters so to speak and seem to have really done their homework,” he said.
Bitoy said that despite the nuances, he's very satisfied with it, and admitted that while the project was not easy to pull off, “ for the effort alone as well as the outcome, this is a total WIN for the fans.”
He then expressed his hope that GMA and everyone involved in making the project do another one in the future. He then expressed his thanks to GMA for green-lighting the project.
“Anyone who's been a part of this endeavor should be proud of the outcome. Siguro kung sinadyang gawin 'yung 'Voltes V' para sa cinema, the production will blow everyone's mind!” he said.
