The enhanced community quarantine may soon be lifted but the work still continues for Michele Gumabao as she recently delivered more than 200 relief goods for waste sorters in Payatas, Quezon City.
The beauty queen shared with her 500K followers on Instagram how the charitable act started from a simple phone call from fellow beauty queen Alaiza Malinao.
She wrote, “I got a call from Alaiza one day and she said she heard about the waste sorters in Quezon City and wanted to help donate food and vegetables. I suggested to her Brgy. Payatas because we previously visited the place and there are still so many in need of help!
“Together, we were able to donate 275 @your200pesos vegetable packs to waste sorters in Brgy. Payatas, Quezon City.”
“Your 200 Pesos” is a fundraising drive created by Michele Gumabao that aims to feed one family per PhP 200 donation.
Aside from the contributions, she was even more grateful for the people who helped and supported the cause.
Adding, “It was our first time dealing with fresh produce so when Alaiza sent the vegetable to us, together with the barangay and locals, we repacked and distributed all on the same day.
“I just needed to share this to remind myself, and those who get the chance to read this, that when we set aside our differences, competition, and personal interests, we can achieve so much more!”
Fans and friends commended the beauty queen for heeding the call of the needy especially during times of crisis.
One wrote, “You are a queen with a purpose!”
Meanwhile, another commented, “A blessed lady with a good heart. Thank you ate for all the inspiration. God bless you and your family always. Stay safe po.”
