“The reason I wanted to become a coach is because as I played volleyball, I was inspired by the patience and sacrifices of all my coaches, who took the time to teach me and mold me into becoming the athlete I am today.

“My college coach, Coach Ramil De Jesus, instilled in me the discipline to learn and work hard. He taught me how to be a champion. I would never forget my four years as a Lady Spiker because it changed my life and opened doors of opportunities for my future,” she said.

Michele also noted that by becoming active in this sport she was able to achieve something purposeful not just for herself but for others as well.

“Through volleyball, I was able to put myself through school, join a professional team, support myself and my family, and start my own foundation to give back to my community.

“I hope to share this passion I have for sports to the next generation and help young and aspiring athletes fulfill their dreams as well. It took one coach to see potential in me that at that time, I myself didn't see,” she added.

She likewise said that this is the reason why she pledged her support to Scholarships for Teacher Education Programs to Upgrade Teacher Quality in the Philippines (STEP UP) advocacy.

“That is why I pledge my all out support to STEP UP's advocacy to support and empower teachers because I believe that our teachers have the power to shape lives. They have the power to mold the next generation of leaders that will lead our country into the next decades. If you want to show your appreciation for all the teachers that inspired you through the years,” she added.

According to its page, STEP UP is a “scholarship campaign by Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), funded by the Australian Government, under the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) program that seeks to attract good-performing college graduates and professionals into the teaching profession by offering them competitive scholarship packages.”
