Inamin ni Mikael Daez na na-"confuse" at nag-"struggle" siya noong una sa pag-portray sa karakter ni Kristoff Royales sa Royal Blood.

Sa podcast nina Mikael at Megan, nakakuwentuhan ng celebrity couple ang manunulat at content creator ng Royal Blood na si RJ Nuevas, kung saan ibinahagi ng aktor na nahirapan siya noong una na intindihin ang karakter ni Kristoff.

Si Kristoff ay ang ambisyosong anak ng business tycoon na si Gustavo Royales (Tirso Cruz III) at half brother ni Napoy (Dingdong Dantes), na umaasang siya ang magmamana ng posisyon ng ama.

"I was very confused at the start because I was trying to reconcile the genre kasi pinu-push 'yung murder mystery, may directive si Direk [Dominic Zapata], and then you're looking at the script, and then Kristoff in a certain way. So I was trying to figure it out," pagbabahagi ni Mikael.

Dagdag ng aktor, "For like the first four to six weeks, galit lagi si Kristoff, like, that's the personality we were trying to push and really trying to express to the audience. But the thing is when I'm not the character, I would tell this truth, I would tell Bonezy... I will say, I'm always looking for the humanity behind it.

"But the thing is when I would talk to people on the set, they were like, 'Hindi, masama ka lang.' So, I was like, 'Ha?' So nag-struggle ako. I had this internal struggle. But it's okay. It's nothing out of the ordinary naman, it's just that normal creative struggle of trying to reconcile everybody's perspective to create our final product."

Pagsang-ayon ni Megan sa asawa, "I get it, Kristoff is a bad guy. But there has to be something about it."

Agad naman itong dinugtungan ni Mikael, "Yeah! People aren't human just to be bad, evil."

Sinagot ni RJ ang hinahanap na ito ni Mikael sa kanyang karakter. Aniya, "Dahil sa paghahanap mo ng humanity ni Kristoff at ang sinasabi sa 'yo masama ka lang, galit ka lang, nag-react ang katawan mo. Noong nagagalit ka na biglang tumutulo ang luha mo nang hindi mo alam, that's humanity."

Ayon kay Mikael, una niyang naramdaman ang "humanity" na mayroon si Kristoff nang magbalik si Gustavo sa mansyon matapos isipin ng lahat na namatay ito sa saksak.

"I was trying to look for it and you noticed it," sabi ni Mikael kay RJ. "I was so happy that you noticed because I was like there's something there. I still didn't know what it was but I have to share something that I had a breakthrough with Kristoff."

Paliwanag ni RJ kay Mikael, "That's the humanity you're looking for na nasasaktan ka. 'Yung vulnerability mo lumalabas and that's humanity. Kaya noong dumalaw ako at nag-usap tayo roon sa dressing room ninyo, I asked you 'di ba, 'Sinadya mo?' Kasi kapag hindi mo sinadya it's your body telling you na ito ang kailangang ilabas ko."

Sa mga eksena nina Beatrice (Lianne Valentin) at Margaret (Rhian Ramos) kung saan umaayos ang relasyon ng mga ito kay Napoy, dito na mas naintindihan ni Mikael si Kristoff.

"When I read that scene, it just came over me like a cold shower. Kristoff is such a lonely person. That informed everything about Kristoff moving forward.

"Every tutok ng baril kay Napoy, I was like, 'I'm mad. I hate you. I want power.' Pero hindi alam ni Kristoff na he's so angry and sad and evil because he's such a lonely person.

"He's getting lonelier because he's losing everything around him. He's losing his power, he's losing his wife, he's losing his siblings, na sinasabi niya na he doesn't care pero even though you say you don't care, if you're losing everything around you as a person, you're crumbling. So, iyon 'yung ginamit ko the whole time," pagbabalik-tanaw ni Mikael.

Nakatanggap naman ng papuri si Mikael kay RJ dahil sa mahusay at epektibong pagganap nito sa kanyang karakter.

"Kudos sa actor kasi hindi madalas na nakukuha ng audience 'yung hindi sinasabi. You never said, 'I'm lonely.' Pero nung umiiyak ka nung paralyzed ka na, kuha ng audience na ang gusto lang niya pagmamahal, approval ng tatay niya. So, nai-convey mo siya nang hindi ka nagsasalita. So, may sinasabi sa 'yo 'yon bilang an actor."
