Mikael Daez's newfound interest in motorcycles happened by chance.
The Kapuso actor narrated to Top Bikes Philippines how he got fascinated by two-wheel rides.
It all started on the set of a drama series that Mikael was doing for the Kapuso network.
Mikael recalled being asked by the show's producers to hop on a motorcycle to realistically portray the character that he was playing.
“But never pa akong nagbi-bike, ever,” a stunned Mikael told the producers.
“Hindi, kaya mo yan!'” they replied, egging the actor to give it a try.
Mikael, being the consummate professional, replied, “Sige, kaya ko 'yan!”
“Mahilig ako sa kotse. I'm pretty into cars, I love driving manuals, so I was able to carry over that experience and fondness to the bike. So my first 15-20 experiences riding bikes was during scenes where I had to use that bike,” he said in the article.
It took a while for Mikael to understand the intricacies of the hobby, including the types of motorcycles suited for specific skill levels.
Mikael is now a budding motorcycle fan and plans to ride more. He also started checking out motorcycle models, with fondness for scooters.
“The only reason I would buy anything, like a car, or a motorcycle, is because it needs to have function in my life,” said Mikael.
“I'm not going to buy a display piece that's a car or a motorcycle, that's not my personality.”
