Mikael Daez shares two simple (and doable) tips to keep in mind when vlogging.

There's no denying that vlogs are the content of the moment.

With time in our hands due to the quarantine, you might be feeling like you should start one, and at the same time, you may also be wondering if it's too late to learn how to vlog.

There are a lot of things to think about when you start vlog -- the equipment, the audience, the platform, among many other things -- but the best way to do it is to start now.

Fortunately, with the advancement of technology, you don't need any fancy equipment to start because all you could ever need is at the palm of your hands -- your smartphone.

As for getting the right shots to help your vlog stand out, we turn to Kapuso actor and YouTuber Mikael Daez to share some tips and tricks up his sleeve.

During a Facebook Live for a smartphone brand, Mikael said that a lot of people have been begging to ask how he's able to acquire cinematic shots for his vlog.

But little do people know that the process is quite simple.

He told social media influencer Laureen Uy, “I've actually been shooting very simple videos. People look at my vlogs and they ask me, 'Paano mo shinu-shoot yan?' 'cause I put a lot of transitions [in my vlog] but it's actually quite simple.”

Mikael then breaks down two important tricks he keeps in mind when he vlogs.

“One is a manual in-camera transition,” he shared.

“What I mean by that is, if you're filming something, all you have to do is pan out when you're done filming, and then you press to stop recording.”

He simulated it by swinging his upper body from the center to either the left or the right side as if he was panning out of the frame.

“Ang nangyayari doon is nagkakaroon na kaagad ng transition at the very end of your video.

“So in all your clips, just before you get to the video, just pan in and then you record, and then pan out to stop recording.

“When you start stitching it on your editing app, sobrang dali na kasi parang nagiging sobrang seamless 'yung transition niya.”

Mikael's second piece of advice is to look for angles that are out of the box to give the viewer a different perspective.

“If you put just a little bit of effort na, what if you put the camera at your feet or what if you put it above your head? Dapat lagi mong baguhin 'yung angle mo.

“Even though it's very subtle, when you connect the shots of your different angles, nag-iiba 'yung viewing experience ng viewers.

“Those are the two simple tricks that I keep in mind when shooting vlogs para naman maging mas unique, kasi it's very easy for people to shoot around their chest height.”
