With many parts of the country experiencing torrential rains caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Fabian, the candidate from Iloilo City in the Miss World Philippines 2021 pageant is bringing a lot of good vibes online to dispel the gloomy weather.
Beauty queen Ann Roxal Palmares caught the attention of netizens with her grand national costume, which was inspired by Iloilo City's most popular noodle dish, La Paz batchoy.
In her Instagram post, she shared some details of her delectable outfit.
“For many years now, there is a delicacy that captured the taste of the Filipinos:
“This is the The Original La Paz Batchoy,
“The simple broth's taste depicts the Ilonggos as the friendliest people in the country, warm and welcoming, gentle and soft-spoken, who would go out of their way to make perfect strangers feel at home.
“The beef and pork loin, pork offal, crushed pork cracklings and chicken stock are [a] fusion of Ilonggo taste buds influenced by Spaniards, while the condiments were from the pre-hispanic traders.
“The round noodles are Ilonggo's close family ties, firm and strong.
“Finally, to complete the ingredients, a touch of love, since this delicious delicacy originated from La Paz district in the City of Love, my City, Iloilo City.
“A bowl of delicious La Paz Batchoy is not only a [merienda] but also the journey of Ilonggo influences from the past to the present [molding] them into creative, practical, fun loving and God fearing persons, truly a treat of Ilonggo' s trait, identity and heritage.”
