Miss International 2023 Andrea Rubio

Miss International 2023 Andrea Rubio will play a special role in tonight's Binibining Pilipinas coronation.

Current reigning Miss International Andrea Rubio triumphed over more than 60 candidates to bring home the crown to her country Venezuela, so she knows a thing or two about winning pageants. And during her stay here in the country, the beauty queen gladly shared her knowledge with the current crop of Binibining Pilipinas candidates.

Andrea talked about the advice she gave the competing Binibinis during a media roundtable held at Araneta City's Ibis Styles Hotel.

“My advice to them is to have fun and do something that they're going to be proud of five years from now. They have to do it with their soul. They have to put their heart and hard work into it. My message would be to compete and compete in a good way,” she said.

Andrea also shared that her winning the Miss International pageant gave some of the Binibinis hope with regards to their pageant career, as she is not as tall as most pageant winners. Andrea is only 5'6,” according to her Wikipedia page.

“They were really happy that I told them that height is not important. I'm not the tallest person in the world. It's not necessarily the tallest who will win. Let's just focus on doing the best in our job.,” she said.

Aside from the advice she gave to the Binibining Pilipinas candidates, Andrea also shared with the media about how her life has changed since her Miss International win and how this could be the same thing that awaits the Binibini crowned tonight.

“It's been a rollercoaster. Because you get one win, and then you lose, and then you get another win. And that's life. It's not just a straight line. It has a line that has long curves,” she shared. “It's about handling those curves the best way you can and trying to remember any single experience that you have because it's a treasure to be here.”

Andrea also shared that she is enjoying her time in the country, noting the similarities between Metro Manila and Caracas, Venezuela. She also expressed a desire to see even more of the country.

“I like Manila. It's a lot like Caracas. I really like it. We have a lot of things in common. Motorcycles everywhere, we also have that a lot. People are not so quiet and Venezuelans are also loud,” she said. “I would love to go to every single island. I know there is a lot of beautiful beaches. That is something we share. Beautiful views and beautiful beaches. I would love to come back and do some tourism.”

Andrea received a warm welcome to the country when she arrived three days ago, receiving a package of Binibining Pilipinas merch, food, and standees of herself prepared for her by the staff at the Novotel Manila Araneta City.
