Bea Alonzo and Jericho Rosales are joining the star-studded ensemble of 'Ang Larawan: The Concert' at The Metropolitan Theater on May 6.
Jericho made the announcement on his Instagram post, where he described the moment as “medyo cray-cray” as he will also work with maestro Ryan Cayabyab and the OG stage cast of the stage musical, Aicelle Santos and Karylle.
The play, which was performed on stage in 1997 and was remade as a musical film in 2017, takes place in 1941, just before World War II.
In the video he posted, he said, “We don't know why we are here. We are holding scripts and there's a bunch of guys, singers, actors, and that guy on the piano. We are freaked out. We want to die.”
“[They are] the best ones,” Bea added.
Other stars of 'Ang Larawan: The Concert' include Markki Stroem, Kakai Bautista, Kakki Teodoro, and industry veterans Mitch Valdez and Nonie Buencamino.
The play will be produced by Girlie Rodis and Aaron Velasco of The Metropolitan Theater, with Ryan Cayabyab as the musical director.
Meanwhile, Rachel Alejandro, who played the role of Paula Marasigan in both the stage play and the movie, posted a teaser on her Instagram account, asking who among the actors who have already played the role of Tony Javier will be appearing opposite her in the concert.
“I'm super thrilled to be reprising my role as Paula Marasigan for Contra Mundum: Ang Larawan The Concert on May 6 at The Metropolitan Theater. Two of the actors here have played the role of Tony Javier opposite me in the 1998 musical and the 2017 film version. So…who will it be for the concert? …” she captioned her post.
