Beauty expert Olivia Quido recalls experience as Miss Universe 2022 judge: “Totoo pala 'yung winning glow.”

Beauty expert Olivia Quido gives a very important reminder to aspiring Pinay beauty queens who are competing in the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines.

The owner of O Skin Med Spa, who was one of the judges in the Miss Universe pageant last year, is currently in the country for a vacation and to attend some of the events prior to the Miss Universe Philippines coronation night on May 13.

In a chat with select entertainment writers and pageant vloggers on Friday, May 5, Olivia, who is also popularly known as Miss O, mentioned one of the key features they look for in a candidate: stage presence.

“Kailangan kapag lumakad sa stage, she owns the stage,” she noted.

“Kasi when R'Bonney [Gabriel, Miss Universe 2022] was there, paglabas pa lang, parang lahat napa-wow agad. So, kailangan may stage presence. Totoo pala 'yung winning glow. Hindi ko rin na-realize 'yun until umupo ako as a judge.”

Then, she recalled her interactions with previous candidates, when her clinical skincare brand was chosen as the official beauty partner of Miss Universe.

“Kasi kapag tumingin ako sa mga babae… Nakikita ko sila, e, I'm their skin care partner, I sit down and I would have a talk with them, nakikita ko sila up close and personal.

Aside from the “winning glow,” she also stressed the importance of maintaining the energy level all throughout the pageant.

'Yung ibang candidates, once they come out, siyempre, parang nagpapasikat sa judges. Pero 'yung energy level, dapat paglabas hanggang sa bumalik, dapat pareho,” she said.

Kailangan from the very first time you step out on the stage hanggang sa bumalik ka sa stage, 'yung energy noon parehas, e.

Kasi, ang judges hindi lang nakatingin when the lights are on, nakatingin din kami all throughout, kahit naka-commercial.”

Olivia also revealed what Miss Universe told her and her fellow judges prior to the coronation night last year.

“Meron kaming one-on-one interview with Miss Universe Organization, kami lang mga judges, sabi nila, 'We are looking for someone who will represent the brand really well.'

“So, ibig sabihin no'n, 'yung babaeng may advocacy. Maganda 'yung ginagawa na nila 'yung charity even before they joined.

Kailangan witty, smart, relatable, maganda, presentable sa stage,” she concluded.
